Proudly made in beautiful Lithuania

Not so long ago, while I was working in our little boutique, a passer-by wandered in, curiously peeked inside, looked around, and asked:

— Where do you bring them from?

— Bring them? — I still remember being caught completely off guard by that question for the very first time, as if someone had gently hit me with a hammer of surprise.

— From Poland? — the curious lady clarified.

I shook my head in all four directions of the world.

And I don’t even remember what speed I spoke at when the words simply poured out:

We don’t bring them.
We create them.
We sew them.
Here.
Locally.
In Lithuania.

Recently, as sewing costs have risen significantly, our inboxes started filling with offers suggesting we “move” our production to distant countries unfamiliar to us, where labour costs are cheaper than cheap.

Our eyes widened.

Definitely cheaper.

Definitely faster.

Definitely more pieces produced in the same amount of time.

But…

Definitely very far from our “nature” and the beautiful story we have built.

So, during a “closed meeting,” we discussed the offers we had received—and every member of the V&V family unanimously shook their heads.

Better to be more expensive.

Better to create fewer pieces.

Better to move a little slower.

But with the firm knowledge that our clothes are “born” in the hands of people who are fairly valued, who love what they do, and who take pride in their work.

I have always been proud that we are a LITHUANIAN brand.

Purely, wholeheartedly Lithuanian.

From the very first thought born in a Lithuanian V’s mind…

To the final touch—the label attached like a medal to a garment by Lithuanian hands.

Perhaps I was simply celebrating it too quietly.

From now on, we have decided to celebrate it louder.

Future collections will be “decorated” with a sign reminding everyone:

We are Lithuanians.
