On the Eve of Mother’s Day
Moms.
They can see “what happened?” in our eyes.
Even when you swear, “nothing at all.”
Moms.
With strange methods that aren’t in any medical textbook, they can tell if you’re unwell.
Even when you insist, “I’m fine.”
Moms.
Their ears catch the subtle tremors in your voice.
Even when you think you’re masking your sadness or failure perfectly.
Moms.
They want to know if you got home safely, if you reached your destination.
Even when you think nothing could possibly have happened along such a short stretch.
As a child, these abilities make you feel safe.
As a teenager, they can be a bit annoying.
As an adult without children, they seem kind of strange.
And then, when you become a Mom yourself…
Everything becomes very clear.
To hear without words.
To notice what’s invisible.
To feel when it hurts.
To be there when needed.
To hug when necessary.
To sit beside when you’re lonely.
Thank you, Mom.
Finally, I understand.
From a mother of many,
V.
P.S. While looking for an illustration, my eye caught this one and it gave me such a warm feeling.
Yes! Moms have it all.
They just lack sleep and fireworks.
