Navigators of life
To go or not to go on the pre-Christmas “trip” was a question hanging in the air until the very last minute.
Even on Thursday, I was pacing, unsure whether to commit.
After all:
A long snowy road.
Seasonal viruses dancing around, waiting for the moment you dress too lightly and sneak in.
All the friends who had intended to join the adventure had “dropped out.”
And.
The feeling that there’s never a more perfect time to tickle your Christmas spirit in the soles of your feet—you just can’t plan it.
So.
On Friday, in a few minutes, we threw together the essentials, grabbed the kids in a whirlwind, and were ready to announce: we’re going!
In two days, we covered 1,200 km.
We learned almost by heart the words of the Christmas playlist.
We visited the Christmas capitals of Riga, Pärnu, and Tallinn.
We tasted all the Christmas dishes.
We bought cozy little gifts for our loved ones.
And most importantly—we’re bringing home a feeling:
How cozy!
How sparkling!
How real and sincere!
What a mood!
What an aura!
How many smiles.
Countless “Merry Christmas!” received.
I sit in the car driven by my husband, moving toward home, and I think—
How much I love him.
Because if not for him, I would see the world much smaller.
And certainly not this beautiful.
Evening toast?
To the navigators of life’s adventures.
And to those who expand the boundaries of experiencing the world.
If among you there are those who, when everything was being distributed, stood in a long line at “I want experiences”,
and didn’t make it to the line where someone was installing navigational skills to navigate confusing journeys on your own—
you’ll understand exactly what I mean…
Mua,
V.
