Brother’s birthday
Big brother Do is getting ready to celebrate his 13th birthday.
He’s handing out invitations to his buddies.
But it seems like he’s skipping his “sister.”
Yesterday, a conversation happens:
“Dominykai, so am I invited to your birthday?”
“No,” Do smiles.
“Then I won’t give you anything either…,” Patricija declares proudly.
Do smiles even wider:
“I’ll somehow survive without your cards with hearts and rainbows.”
Patricija thinks for a moment.
“Well, I don’t necessarily have to draw one.
I could buy something useful with my savings…”
Her brother smiles to himself.
This morning, after waking up, Patricija rushes over to me:
“Mom,” she whispers, “can you walk me to ‘KOTAS’ after school?”
(a fishing supplies store),
“I want to buy Dominykas something useful.”
In her little palm, I see 3 euros pressed tight.
Two ladies are going to buy “worms.”
Though I’m not even sure they won’t exceed the “budget” set for her brother.
