About “not moving”
Well, let’s admit it, dear Moms, how often we used to count the minutes until They fell asleep so we could finally free our tired arms and safely transfer them into their little beds.
Back when they were babies.
And.
How rare those moments are, when we get the joy of holding Them in our arms, unexpectedly asleep.
After they’ve grown.
I sit.
I don’t move.
I even try to hold my breath.
“Don’t wake up yet. This is so rare. So longed for.”
The feeling that you are still the safest embrace lifts you up to the sky—and doesn’t let you back down.
Moms.
Their hands always busy.
Everywhere at once.
Seeing everything.
Knowing everything.
Feeling even more.
And then, sometimes.
Sitting. Not moving.
And holding the feeling of completeness by its tail.
A feeling you don’t want to let go of.
