The fact that a garment often needs several rounds of improvement during the creative process is nothing new to us. However, having a design demand four complete transformations is something we rarely encounter.<\/p>\n
But, after giving it more thought, perhaps the dress itself was not the true culprit \u2014 maybe it was the person \u201cconducting\u201d its creation process.<\/p>\n
Because for many years, I have followed one simple rule when creating collections: \u201cDo not add a garment to the collection that you would not want to welcome into your own wardrobe.\u201d<\/p>\n
And this rule does its job.<\/p>\n
The three versions of this dress that came before did not have anything particularly wrong with them. But if, while looking in the mirror wearing a new piece, you cannot say something truly wonderful about it \u2014 then it simply does not deserve a place in the collection.<\/p>\n
And so, on the fourth attempt, she was born \u2014 the \u201clittle\u201d black dress, decorated with beautiful yet subtle details on the cuffs (which can also be turned inside out for a different look).<\/p>\n
Modest, but perfectly ready to let a woman shine when styled with elegant shoes and a clutch.<\/p>\n
This is a dress that, after wearing it to a celebration, will not need to spend months hanging in the wardrobe waiting for the next special occasion. Quite the opposite \u2014 it is so easygoing and versatile that it will happily wait to be \u201cput to work\u201d in your everyday outfits.<\/p>\n
