But then I think about peeling and grating all those \u201cbulbs,\u201d shaping them into dumplings, and finally boiling them. Most likely, what I\u2019d end up with would be\u2026 cepelinai soup. So I abandon the thought.<\/p>\n
Because in life, I indulge in the luxury of biting into ready-made ones at Mom\u2019s\u2014fresh off her hands.<\/p>\n
For whom peeling or digging up potatoes is never a burden.
\nFor whom scraping a whole batch in the early morning, after getting up before everyone else, is easy.
\nFor whom rolling a few pots of cepelinai and making sure the filling isn\u2019t just any meat\u2014but organically raised meat ground by hand at home\u2014is effortless.<\/p>\n
I bite, savor, and think: I too rarely say \u201cthank you\u201d to Mom. Too often we take all this for granted.<\/p>\n
Because just imagining having to make two pots of these dumplings myself\u2014ugh\u2014I\u2019d be terribly unhappy.<\/p>\n
