When my eyes cross from the daily chaos and the relay races organized by my three little ministers of \u201curgent matters\u201d\u2026 I\u2019ll admit it.
\nSometimes, in my thoughts, I escape to the \u201cI live just for myself\u201d paradise.
\nAnd there\u2026 my imagination runs wild:
\nWhat would I do if I didn\u2019t have three tousled heads beside me?<\/p>\n
I\u2019d travel more.<\/p>\n
I\u2019d explore the corners of the world and maybe even debate with any travel guru about incredible places.<\/p>\n
I\u2019d take care of myself.<\/p>\n
Sleep at least eight hours every night.<\/p>\n
And feel more rested.<\/p>\n
Exercise at least three times a week.<\/p>\n
And be healthier, stronger, and prettier.<\/p>\n
Regularly go for beauty treatments.<\/p>\n
And have fewer wrinkles and brighter under-eyes.<\/p>\n
I\u2019d have a meticulously organized home.<\/p>\n
Where every item has a clear place.<\/p>\n
No stubbornly jammed drawers overflowing with gloves and hats that constantly get outgrown.<\/p>\n
I\u2019d cook less.<\/p>\n
Or maybe not cook at all.<\/p>\n
Do a lot less laundry.<\/p>\n
I know for sure that without my household trio, at least five washing machine loads each weekend wouldn\u2019t even exist.<\/p>\n
I wouldn\u2019t hear thunderous declarations like:<\/p>\n
\u201cMom, my shoes are too small again and the sleeves are too short.\u201d
\nI\u2019d live in the center of Vilnius.<\/p>\n
Read lots and lots.<\/p>\n
Maybe have a dog? Though even that is questionable\u2026<\/p>\n
Maybe I\u2019d be a workaholic?<\/p>\n
Going home only to sleep\u2026<\/p>\n
Maybe I\u2019d even write a book\u2026<\/p>\n
And here my imagination slammed on the brakes:<\/p>\n
A book?
\nAbout what? If I didn\u2019t have the three biggest inspirations of my life.<\/p>\n
Yes!<\/p>\n
If I weren\u2019t a MOM, I\u2019d live an easier life.<\/p>\n
Cook only when I feel like it, not every day.<\/p>\n
Sleep without guilt.<\/p>\n
Do little laundry and ironing.<\/p>\n
Never experience piles of dirty clothes resembling Everest peaks, waiting to be sorted\u2014socks and little underwear stacked in heaps.<\/p>\n
Live in order.<\/p>\n
Be well-read and have traveled much more.<\/p>\n
But.<\/p>\n
Would I be happier?<\/p>\n
Before me appear three pairs of round, loving eyes:<\/p>\n
\u201cMom, it\u2019s Mother\u2019s Day,\u201d solemnly begins the eldest, Dominykas.
\n\u201cYou\u2019re the best in the whole world,\u201d adds Patricija.<\/p>\n
And the little one stands in the middle, sending freshly learned air kisses.<\/p>\n
I hug all three.<\/p>\n
I feel the hug growing tight.<\/p>\n
My arms can barely wrap them all.<\/p>\n
And immediately I think:<\/p>\n
If I were to write a book, this is how its plot would look.<\/p>\n
Love that won\u2019t fit in your arms, and life\u2019s meaning that\u2019s hard to embrace with hands.<\/p>\n
Not exchangeable for any minutes of rest, order, or attention to oneself.<\/p>\n
For Moms.<\/p>\n
Without my life heroes, we might be:
\nHealthier, prettier, more rested.
\nWith fewer wrinkles and body imperfections.
\nBut I guarantee:
\nEyes radiating with love and fulfillment like theirs\u2014could never be claimed by us.<\/p>\n
