My Dad doesn\u2019t like having his picture taken.<\/p>\n
He says his face has too many wrinkles.<\/p>\n
His hands are too \u201cscarred,\u201d marked from accidents in the carpentry workshop.<\/p>\n
He also claims he\u2019s never properly dressed and waves his hand as if to say:<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy would I ruin a photo next to you, all dressed up, looking like this?\u201d<\/p>\n
So our archive of photos with Dad is sparse.<\/p>\n
But everyday life moments? There are plenty\u2014plenty to fill a wagon.<\/p>\n
Here, look\u2014his worn hands lift Mykolas into the air, letting him \u201cfly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Over there, he\u2019s with Dominykas, carrying fishing rods over his shoulder, pulling them toward the riverbank.<\/p>\n
And then he\u2019s hopping across the pavement on squares drawn with chalk by Patricija, shouting:
\n\u201cGrandpa, faster! You can do it!\u201d<\/p>\n
In Dad\u2019s yard, my car magically \u201ccleans up\u201d as it arrives from Vilnius.<\/p>\n
The mats get shaken out.<\/p>\n
The windows shine.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s ready, right here and now, to help make something I casually mentioned I really wanted.<\/p>\n
And in the bag he brings from the store, there are always our favorite treats.<\/p>\n
Nothing is ever too difficult for him.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve never heard him say, \u201cI can\u2019t. It won\u2019t work. It\u2019s impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n
He doesn\u2019t use many words.<\/p>\n
But from his eyes and daily actions, you can read millions of words\u2014all saying the same thing:<\/p>\n
\u201cI can do everything\u2026because I love you very much.\u201d<\/p>\n
