I kick off my shoes.
\nAnd tuck my feet into slippers.
\nI hang up my clothes.
\nAnd slip into a cozy robe.
\nI wipe off the \u201cplay makeup\u201d from my face.
\nEven critically surveying myself in the mirror, I decide that, \u201cin the context of this overall robe moment,\u201d the \u2018just born\u2019 stage fits just fine.
\nI tie my hair into a simple ponytail and, having \u201cdismissed\u201d all devices and tools from duty, I greet my hair with days of rest.<\/p>\n
Freed from the daily grind of responsibilities,
\nit\u2019s time to rest my thoughts.
\nWell then, my wild ones, I clearly address them:
\ncrawl out of the cramped head of this poor human.
\nGet comfortable in robes and slippers.
\nPrepare yourselves to be thoroughly washed in the sauna
\nand bubbled in the jacuzzi.<\/p>\n
I explain to my constantly buzzing, nine-mill-wheel thoughts that I\u2019ve brought them here
\nto air out, press the \u201crestart\u201d button, and come back \u201cas if newly born.\u201d
\nFor a moment, in that cramped head, they rustle.
\nBut look\u2014
\nthe instant I lie down on the massage table, they start stomping their crazy dance again:
\nStomping over undone work.
\nSnatching at unfinished conversations.
\nPinching ideas for photo shoots not fully explored.
\nCatching unanswered questions.<\/p>\n
I lie there in the massage, and as it shifts to the other side, my 24\/7 head office finishes sketching a new video idea with a full execution plan.
\nIt notes \u201cimmediately actionable\u201d tasks for when I get home.
\nLaundry, review, check\u2026
\nSchedules the week\u2019s days.
\nAnd \u201cpoints out\u201d things I mustn\u2019t forget:
\nWho to call.
\nWhere to jot what down.
\nWhat to put where.<\/p>\n
I roll off the table and, grateful for the relaxation given to my tense muscles, I want to ask\u2014shouldn\u2019t there be some extra space for these overworked thoughts?
\nAnd there, all curled up, giggling in my head even while clutching their bellies:
\n\u201cThe pig wants bananas!\u201d they squeal.
\nPeace, it seems, is not on the agenda.<\/p>\n
I drive home.
\nWith a rested body and a head that somehow feels even heavier from thoughts.
\nThere are so many of them now\u2014I smile.
\nAnd, perhaps taking advantage of my body\u2019s weakness, they snuggled closer still.<\/p>\n
Later, with time spinning the wheel toward Vilnius, I think:
\nMaybe heads of multi-tasking, \u201cterribly\u201d work-loving people are like hearts?
\nHealthy as long as they buzz with ideas?
\nAs long as they itch with unfinished work?
\nRustling with \u201cneed to do\u201d bullet points.
\nBuzzing with the feeling that I am needed and important.
\nBY MANY.<\/p>\n
And without that buzzing, rustling, rustling\u2014
\nmy head might be lighter, but
\nI wonder if it would carry the same feeling
\nthat makes life beautiful.
\nThat makes it so clear.<\/p>\n
