To go or not to go on the pre-Christmas \u201ctrip\u201d was a question hanging in the air until the very last minute.
\nEven on Thursday, I was pacing, unsure whether to commit.<\/p>\n
After all:
\nA long snowy road.
\nSeasonal viruses dancing around, waiting for the moment you dress too lightly and sneak in.
\nAll the friends who had intended to join the adventure had \u201cdropped out.\u201d
\nAnd.
\nThe feeling that there\u2019s never a more perfect time to tickle your Christmas spirit in the soles of your feet\u2014you just can\u2019t plan it.<\/p>\n
So.
\nOn Friday, in a few minutes, we threw together the essentials, grabbed the kids in a whirlwind, and were ready to announce: we\u2019re going!<\/p>\n
In two days, we covered 1,200 km.
\nWe learned almost by heart the words of the Christmas playlist.
\nWe visited the Christmas capitals of Riga, P\u00e4rnu, and Tallinn.
\nWe tasted all the Christmas dishes.
\nWe bought cozy little gifts for our loved ones.<\/p>\n
And most importantly\u2014we\u2019re bringing home a feeling:
\nHow cozy!
\nHow sparkling!
\nHow real and sincere!
\nWhat a mood!
\nWhat an aura!
\nHow many smiles.
\nCountless \u201cMerry Christmas!\u201d received.<\/p>\n
I sit in the car driven by my husband, moving toward home, and I think\u2014
\nHow much I love him.
\nBecause if not for him, I would see the world much smaller.
\nAnd certainly not this beautiful.<\/p>\n
Evening toast?
\nTo the navigators of life\u2019s adventures.
\nAnd to those who expand the boundaries of experiencing the world.<\/p>\n
