\u201cMom, you have no idea how much I love you,\u201d whispered Pa, pressing her small hands against my neck, the night before falling asleep.
\n\u201cI do,\u201d I whisper back, \u201cbecause now I\u2019ll show you just how much I love you.\u201d<\/p>\n
And I scoop her into my arms, intending to hold her as tightly as I love her.
\nPatricija giggles, her whole face lit up with a wide smile, and we restrain ourselves only because we aren\u2019t alone in the hotel.
\n\u201cMaybe on the other side of the wall, little ones like our My are asleep,\u201d she whispers, calming down.<\/p>\n
Friday.
\nAfter an intense work week, a \u201cgetaway for a spa\u201d plan born in my mind was soon set in motion.
\nWith grandparents always ready to lend a hand, arrangements were made for My and E\u2014the \u201cjuniors\u201d\u2014and the house buzzed with packing.
\nDad and Do were rolling up fishing rods and preparing for a manly lakeside retreat.
\nI, with Pa, dug out our best swimsuits from drawers, pulling together pastel-matched sets ready for the assault.<\/p>\n
Just 2 days.
\nBut so many wonderful emotions shared between us!<\/p>\n
We modeled bathrobe fashions.
\nAte breakfast in bed.
\nSplashed in the pool.
\nLazily rolled around the relaxation rooms.
\nDined long and slow in the evening.
\nHad warm donuts for late-night snacks.
\nSweated it out in the gym.<\/p>\n
And, having forgotten to bring workout clothes, my big eyes widened as I realized: \u201cSo we won\u2019t go then??\u201d
\nImmediately, I rummaged through the clothes I\u2019d brought and found suitable workout attire.<\/p>\n
We went for massages.
\nPa had her very first massage ever and came back with even more \u201ctwinkling\u201d eyes:
\n\u201cIt was dark, but I wasn\u2019t scared at all!\u201d\u2014she was now a grown-up, having passed the exam for a potential spa visitor.<\/p>\n
I hadn\u2019t laughed so hard in a long time, when Pa, unpacking her tiny underwear for the massage, lifted her big blue eyes and asked:
\n\u201cSo which way is the front? The side that\u2019s a little wider, or the side that has nothing?\u201d<\/p>\n
Eventually, our laughter level got so high that we had to remind ourselves again that we weren\u2019t alone in the hotel, and there might be little sleepers like My on the other side of the wall.<\/p>\n
The two of us slept in one big bed,
\nWhere next to the white sheets and soft pillows there was also that cozy feeling
\nThat we love our closest ones every day.
\nWithout pause.
\nWithout fatigue.
\nWithout interruptions.<\/p>\n
But caught up in the whirlwind of daily routines, thrown headfirst into the rhythm of days and the carnival of tasks\u2026
\nwe know that WE LOVE.
\nJUST.
\nWe just forget to enjoy that huge, sprawling, and beautifully blooming love.<\/p>\n
For a full two days,
\nmy phone lit up with photos from my husband, showing his happiness holding the catch of the day.
\nIn front of me twinkled the two happy eyes of Pa.<\/p>\n
The evening tea toast\u2014
\nTo the possibilities of escape.
\nWith our loved ones.
\nAnd to the longing
\nTo return once again to our shared home.<\/p>\n
