It just so happened that this recent phase of my life has started to feel like a really good action movie.<\/p>\n
If I were a viewer of my own life, watching the past few weeks from the outside\u2014
\nI wouldn\u2019t be yawning.<\/p>\n
Because every day, the plot of the movie called \u201clife\u201d
\nhas been twisting and turning like a roller coaster.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve been everywhere and everything.
\nFrom someone choosing flooring in a tile shop
\nto a worried mom
\nin the emergency room.<\/p>\n
But it just so happened that last Thursday,
\nafter a \u201csuper-duper\u201d short night of sleep
\nand a \u201cturbo-powered\u201d intense day preparing the first collection at the boutique,
\nMy and I ended up in the ER.<\/p>\n
And even though the original plan was
\nto come home with a can of condensed milk
\nand some \u201cGaidelis\u201d biscuits,
\nprepare goods for tomorrow\u2019s Kaziukas fair,
\nand then collapse into bed without a trace of life\u2014<\/p>\n
circumstances lined up differently.<\/p>\n
Soon enough, with wide, frightened eyes
\nand holding My close in my arms,
\nI was sitting in the emergency waiting room.<\/p>\n
No more fatigue.
\nNo more lack of sleep.
\nNo thoughts about unfinished Kaziukas goods left at home.<\/p>\n
Just one single wish\u2014
\nthat My would be okay.<\/p>\n
\u201cHello, Mykolas,\u201d a young doctor walks into the room,
\n\u201cI\u2019m Mykolas too,\u201d he smiles.<\/p>\n
And although our Mykolas responds to this sweet coincidence
\nwith even louder dissatisfaction,
\nthe doctor examines him with such genuine care.<\/p>\n
Then he lays out a plan for tests
\nand explains everything to us in detail.
\nAnd promises to be back soon.<\/p>\n
The nurse who admitted us keeps peeking into the room,
\nwrapping us in such motherly care.<\/p>\n
\u201cShall I bring some water?\u201d she asks.
\n\u201cMaybe a blanket?\u201d she offers.<\/p>\n
Eventually she comes back with our outdoor clothes from the waiting room
\nand hangs them in the room:
\n\u201cJust in case,\u201d she says, \u201cso they don\u2019t get lost.\u201d<\/p>\n
Later they come to take blood.
\nWith such care and responsibility
\nshe searches for a vein in that tiny hand:<\/p>\n
\u201cJust let me get it right\u2026 so it won\u2019t hurt,\u201d
\nshe says, gently stroking My\u2019s hand.<\/p>\n
Finally, the doctor returns with the results.
\nPulling a chair closer to us,
\nwithout a pile of papers,
\nwithout rushing to fill forms or stamp anything,<\/p>\n
he explains everything about the virus My caught
\nin completely human, understandable language.<\/p>\n
So warm.
\nSo simple.
\nSo sincere.<\/p>\n
We leave the hospital
\nat midnight.<\/p>\n
No more fear in our eyes.
\nNo trembling hands.
\nNo heart dropped into our heels.<\/p>\n
At half past twelve, after putting My to sleep,
\nI return to finishing the last touches
\nof the goods for tomorrow\u2019s Kaziukas\u2014
\nthings the already half-asleep shop assistant couldn\u2019t finish.<\/p>\n
And while packing pieces of \u201ctinginys\u201d into bags,
\nI feel myself smiling.<\/p>\n
Maybe a little from exhaustion.
\nMaybe a little because the anxiety
\nthat had grown to elephant size suddenly faded.<\/p>\n
Or maybe from touching that feeling again\u2014
\nthat kindness hasn\u2019t disappeared.<\/p>\n
It lives here. Right next to us.
\nAnd people truly care about people.
\nNot formally.
\nBut sincerely.<\/p>\n

\nfor every time in life I\u2019ve had to visit with all my \u201ctreasures.\u201d<\/p>\n
Each time I leave with the same feeling in my heart.<\/p>\n
