{"id":17626,"date":"2021-09-29T10:38:05","date_gmt":"2021-09-29T07:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/viktorijos.lt\/istorija\/baby-my\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T15:50:45","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T12:50:45","slug":"baby-my","status":"publish","type":"istorija","link":"https:\/\/viktorijos.lt\/en\/story\/baby-my\/","title":{"rendered":"Baby MY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Why did our new little \u201cheart captain\u201d become MYKOLAS?<\/p>\n<p>When ten years ago we decided that our Do would be DOMINYKAS, I clearly remember the words of my grandmother\u2014who now watches us from above on her little cloud\u2014at that moment:<br \/>\n\u201cWow, what an old-fashioned name you\u2019re giving the little one.\u201d<br \/>\nSurprised, I raised my eyebrows, and she added:<br \/>\n\u201cMy grandfather\u2019s name was Dominykas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hearing that only strengthened my opinion about the name. I thought it\u2019s always good to stay connected to your history and roots.<\/p>\n<p>This time, when another little heart wasn\u2019t yet fluttering beneath mine, my thoughts were already turning to expanding our family\u2026<br \/>\nWhile spending the evening in Nida, in a cozy conversation with my husband, we joked that if we were lucky enough to have more children, let the new addition to our family be MYKOLAS.<\/p>\n<p>Mykolas was Tomo\u2019s grandfather. And though our acquaintance was short-lived\u2014because those little clouds floating across the sky take with them the ones you wish you could spend more time with\u2014when I close my eyes, I see Grandfather settled in his home chair.<br \/>\nA man of strong Samogitian character and a big kind heart.<br \/>\nSmiling subtly with his lips, but his eyes shining brightly with joy.<br \/>\nEspecially when he saw his grandchildren, whom he affectionately called \u201clittle ones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Tomo\u2019s stories, Grandfather is alive.<br \/>\nHe used to drive the \u201cgazelle\u201d (car).<br \/>\nAnd when Tomo got older, he sat him behind the wheel.<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019d drive together through the village,\u201d he\u2019d say\u2014neighbors would joke that soon I\u2019d be able to drive a truck even without Grandfather.<br \/>\nThe wheel seemed to grow to Tomo\u2019s hands for life.<\/p>\n<p>Grandfather Mykolas was a friend.<br \/>\nA teacher.<br \/>\nA fishing buddy, knowing the best spots around the village.<br \/>\nA mushroom hunter and a man with a very practical approach to life.<br \/>\nHe patiently and sincerely passed his experience and knowledge into Tomo\u2019s still small hands.<br \/>\nIt left a deep mark on my husband\u2019s memory and recollections.<\/p>\n<p>In my own childhood memories, MYKOLAS also lives.<br \/>\nUncle Mykolas.<br \/>\nHe was our neighbor in the apartment above us.<br \/>\nKind-hearted, good-looking, and always carrying candies in his pockets to treat us kids he met in the stairwell.<br \/>\nOver time, our families became friends.<br \/>\nThrough a child\u2019s eyes, they were the happiest neighbors, always full of laughter and joy.<br \/>\nUncle Mykolas was nicknamed \u201cMykoliukas,\u201d and my father called him a \u201cbuddy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, oh\u2026 life can sometimes be unfair and cruel to such wonderful people.<br \/>\nMykoliukas, the best friend of my father, also went to the cloud.<br \/>\nThere were no more people in our close circle with this beautiful name left.<\/p>\n<p>So, practically without discussion and inspired by lovely people we know, we had no doubt that this name would be perfect for our new little one.<br \/>\nBesides, I really wanted brotherly names, so when we considered \u201cDominykas and Mykolas,\u201d we clapped our hands together:<br \/>\n\u201cBrothers!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And when the doctor asked while doing the ultrasound if we wanted to know who was in the belly, I smiled and said we already knew it would be a brother.<br \/>\nThe doctor, surprised that someone could see such early details before her, looked at me, and I just smiled:<br \/>\n\u201cWe couldn\u2019t name him Mykolas if he were a sister.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From the moment we saw the two lines on the test, knowing there was a brother growing beneath my heart was so powerful that, timidly stroking my belly, I was already lovingly greeting MYKOLAS in my thoughts.<br \/>\nToday, he sleeps safely in our arms.<\/p>\n<p>Mua,<br \/>\nV.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-17626","istorija","type-istorija","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/viktorijos.lt\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/istorija\/17626","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/viktorijos.lt\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/istorija"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/viktorijos.lt\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/istorija"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/viktorijos.lt\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=17626"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
