Doesn\u2019t really fit the perfect whole, you know.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Finally, she rolls the question out like a little ball:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMom, what\u2019s it for?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I explain that when a tiny baby lives in its mom\u2019s belly, it can\u2019t come to the table to eat.<br \/>\nSo the mom feeds her baby through the \u201cbelly button,\u201d which connects them like a kind of cord.<\/p>\n<p>Silence. She tries to remember something.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut then, why do kids and dads have belly buttons?
